Millie Drew Kelly is a 6-year-old girl from Georgia that lost her life after her younger brother accidentally used a weapon against her after their mother got out of the family’s car to check up why the vehicle wouldn’t start.
The kids were sat in the car parked in the driveway of their Paulding County home on Monday and the car wouldn’t start.
Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ashley Henson said that the mother “hopped out” of the car to find the source of the problem, and the young boy somehow got hold of a handgun. The mother heard the sound of the discharge, and went frantic.
Apparently, the young boy has gotten the item from the console of the vehicle and used it against Millie in the right side of her head.
Millie was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta location, where she lost her life on Wednesday.
According to Sgt. Henson, no charges will be filed, and he told 11 Alive that sometimes accidents do happen, and bad things happen to good people.
A GoFundMe has been set up in order to help the family with expenses, and it has already raised over $37k.
