7 Effective Self-Defense Techniques Every Woman Should Know

Victor Lyalko is a well know martial arts expert who recently wrote a book where he shared his most effective methods of self-defense to help women if they need to defend themselves in life life-threatening situations.

We have chosen some of the easiest and effective moves so women can handle every attacker, no matter how big or heavy he is.

1. Let`s start things by memorizing the vulnerable places

You have to remember that the most effective moves are aimed at these vulnerable areas: eyes, nose, chest, throat, knees and groin.

2. The most effective and the simplest moves:

Grabbing the wrist is one of the best moves that will make any attacker drop to his knees. Grab his middle and index finger with one hand and his little ring finger with the other and start bending the wrist forward.

If you can`t do that, than go for his Adam`s apple with your fist or with a finger between the collarbones.

The groin is probably the most obvious area for an attack and all self-defense courses will advise it. Hitting your attacker here will literally paralyze him so you`ll have enough time to escape.

3. If you are grabbed from the front

If you are attacked from the front and not able to lift your hands, do the following: move your hands forward and make a fist in front of your pelvis. By doing this you will create enough space between you and the attacker.

After that, hit him with your forehead directly in the nose. This will make him move away so you`ll have enough room to hit him in the groin with your knee.

You can also use your palm do protect yourself by straightening your arm and hitting the attacker in his nose or chin with your right arm. Then you can finish him with a good old-fashioned knee in the groin.

4. How to free your hands

Just remember the “rule of thumb,” rotate your arm to the side of his thumb and you can easily escape a stronghold.

If he keeps holding on to your arm rotate your wrist toward the thumb and when your arm is under the attacker`s pull it as fast and as strong as you can.

5. If you are grabbed from behind

Attackers tend to come from the back because this is the easiest way to hold their victim down.

In order to set yourself free, bend back and try to hit your attacker with the back of your head. Even if you fail this will make him put one of his legs forward, which will enable you to bend down grab that leg and pull it with. He will lose his balance for sure.

6. If you are approach and grabbed from the side

If you are approached from the side, use your elbow because it’s one of the most powerful weapons you have.

Aim for you attacker`s jaw, temple or nose. A direct hit will make him take few steps back, creating space for a blow in his chest or belly.

7. If you find yourself pushed against the wall

Attackers often try to corner their victims by pushing them against a wall. If you find yourself in this situation, remember the most valuable places from the first picture above and hit the one you can.

In case both of the attacker`s arms are up extend your palm and hit him in the armpit.

Your head can be very effective, so squat a little if needed to be lower that the attacker and jump up as explosive as you can and aim for his jaw.

We hope that you`ll never have to use these moves, but if you find yourself in a threatening situation, now you know what to do!

Thank you. Useful information. I found myself thinking about the times I have been assaulted and wanting to try out some of this.
