The new year is already here, and many people are already in their “new year new me” phase. As we all know, many people have their new year’s resolutions, and the gyms are full of people who decided to throw away the junk food and start living a healthier life. Even though the phase will wear off in a month or two for a large percent of these people, it’s very, very rude and inappropriate to make fun of the folks who decided to make a big step in their lives and start visiting the gym. I mean, the last thing a novice need is for the gym rats to start laughing at them for their inexperience with the complicated machines and lifting techniques.
Someone asked Reddit on how to help the newcomers adapt to the gym environment as soon as possible and with the minimum of fuss, and there were plenty of useful tips to make the life of newcomers and gym rats a little bit easier. One story, however, stood above the others because it perfectly explained just how important is for one to learn to understand and be compassionate. We should all remember that novices need encouragement and support in their new environment, because once upon a time that was us! Check out the story as it was shared on Reddit below.
