Girls Auto Clinic is not your classic, ‘regular’ car repair shop. By offering a range of salon services to sweeten the deal, and they are here to change the relationship between women and the automotive industry.
Engineer and mechanic Patrice Banks is the founder of the shop, and it’s a stress-free space for women to have their cars serviced. They can also learn more about vehicles if they like, but in a respectful and supportive manner.
Banks got the idea to create GAC because of her frustration about the mistreatment of female customers when dealing with male mechanics. She empowers women to become #sheCANics, and she uses the hashtag to even describe herself.
Even though the shop has been running near Philadelphia since 2013, GAC’s latest addition, Clutch Beauty Bar, is bringing a whole new experience. Customers can have manicures, pedicures, and blowouts in Clutch, while their car is being worked on by the mechanics. Workforce equality done in style, right?
