The famous actress and activist Alyssa Milano has been facing backlash recently about a tweet she wrote, where she says that she’s transgender, a person of color, an immigrant, and disabled.
The backlash came from both sides of the aisle, and it all began when she tweeted that she was celebrating her “transgender sisters” on International Women’s Day.
Someone asked her if she’s transgender, to which she responded that she is “everything”, by which she wanted to encourage people not to be afraid of what they don’t know or understand.
People, however, had different opinions on that:
Many people pointed out that Milano is, in fact, a straight, cisgender, able-bodied, white woman, and she hasn’t had the same experience as other people with different backgrounds.
Alyssa Milano later apologized for offending people, and wrote that she’s glad her comment “invoked conversation”.
