Ladies, prepare your tissues because this one is truly emotional.
A 98-year-old American soldier who fell in love with a French woman during WWII has finally had the chance to see her again and tell her that he still loves her.
French TV crews filmed the scene that took place on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing, and the two embraced for the first time in 75 years!
Kara Troy Robbins told her that he always loved her, and she never got out of his heart when he first saw her.
He then showed her a photo of her he had kept for all those years.
K.T. Robbins was stationed with his regiment in Briey in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in France during WWII, and it was there where he fell in love with the 18-year-old girl Jeannine.
Expectedly, their relationship lasted for two months, when he had to leave and was rushed to the eastern front.
He returned to America after WWII was over and eventually got married. However, he never forgot about the French girl Jeannine Ganaye (now Pierson).
The meeting took place after a French TV crew decided to make a piece on WWII veterans in America and came across a photo of the young French woman in K.T. Robbins’ photo albums.
The crew were told by Robbins that he wanted to go to France and find her family. However, he thought that he probably won’t see her, because he thought she would not be alive.
The French journalists managed to track her down and found out that she’s 92 years old and still alive.
She said that she cried when he left in the truck, she was very sad and wished he hadn’t returned to America.
She learned some English after WWII, hoping that he would come back to her one day.
They agreed to meet again and were both with tears in their eyes when he had to leave.
He told her at the end: “Jeannine, I love you girl”.
