Apparently Men Spend 7 Hours A Year Hiding In The Restroom For “Peace And Quiet”

Everyone has to use the restroom from time to time, of course, and it happens at home, at work, or in any other place. However, most people don’t count the time spent there as their “leisure time”, because it is not exactly a form of entertainment of any kind, and we would actually be a little suspicious of anyone who thinks so. Well, apparently, there are a number of men out there who use the bathroom as a place for their “me time”, and recent research shows that men spend more than seven hours a year in the restroom just to “escape”.

You probably had the same thought that I did: men are sneaking off to the restroom so they could do “something dirty in there”, right? Well, apparently, that’s not the case, and the real reason is actually a lot more alarming than that. A large number of men, reportedly, are being “forced” to hide in the bathroom in order to get some peace and quiet, especially after a stressful day.

The research was done by a bathroom company called Pebble Grey, and they asked 1000 men if they sometimes “hide” in the bathroom. The results have shown that a large number of them hide in the toilet for several reasons: to avoid their overly-energetic children, to avoid nagging their partners, avoid chores, or check out their mobile phones undisturbed. Even though this sounds like a pretty extreme way to get some solitude, the research showed that a lot of men actually do it.

A spokesperson for the company has since stated that men need a little bit of time for themselves, to switch off completely or just take stock, and the bathroom is probably the go-to place for such moments. A place where one can escape from the outside world, at least for a short time.

To add to that, 45% of the men polled stated that they struggle to get some time for themselves, and 25% of them even claimed that their partners don’t appreciate how busy their life actually is. 23% of them described the bathroom as their “safe place”, and 25% of them said that they wouldn’t know how “they’d cope” if they couldn’t escape in the bathroom from time to time.

Obviously they didn’t ask women – I spent waaaaay more than 7 hours a year there to get some quiet time.
Sorry, this article is a bit stupid. Who hasn’t been in the bathromm to get 15min of peace once in a while? Men or women?
