Namely, the truth is that people treat you differently depending on your looks. For instance, an overweight bartender gets tipped way less than what’s socially accepted as an ‘attractive’ looking person. Psychology calls this the halo effect and it means that people tend to perceive attractive people as being better, and we even treat them better.
