Bartender Shares How Customers Treat You Differently Based On Your Looks

Cassidy Lane is a woman that goes by the name Body_positive_bartender, and she recently tackled a common issue that many bartenders, and everyone else working in the service industry as a tipped employee would agree. Namely, the truth is that people treat you differently depending on your looks. For instance, an overweight bartender gets tipped way less than what’s socially accepted as an ‘attractive’ looking person. Psychology calls this the halo effect and it means that people tend to perceive attractive people as being better, and we even treat them better.
Lane shared how radically people’s behavior has changed at work after she’s put on some weight during the pandemic, and she noted that her whole life changed.
The video sparked a heated discussion about this issue that needs to be highlighted, and we invite you to check it out for yourself below.

The emotional video already racked up more than 1.3 million likes and it was viewed more than 2 million times. As she pointed out, it’s especially men that are more dismissive of her, even though they were enthusiastic in speaking with her before.

Many people agreed that people treat you differently based on your looks regardless of your profession, and these are some of the most popular comments:
