Best Friends Get Married To Start a Family Together, Spark Heated Debate On Marriage

The institution of marriage has been one of the most widely-practiced principles in our society, and it’s been commonly associated as the ‘ever-lasting bond’ between a man and a woman. Thankfully, though, the mindsets are changing, and many countries now allow LGBTQ+ couples to get legally married. However, the idea of marriage typically resembles around two people that are being romantically involved with each other. Well, a couple on TikTok has decided to challenge this and prove that it doesn’t always have to be that way.

Jay Guercio and her wife Krystle are two best friends that decided to get platonically married, and they’ve been sharing TikTok videos about their relationship. Both of them have a romantic life outside of their marriage, but they live together and their relationship seems amazing.
They’re both members of the LGBTQ+ community, and this is what they said of their relationship:

“My best friend and I, of eight years, got married, had a commitment ceremony, whatever you want to call it. We did this because we wanted to raise kids together, we wanted to live our lives by each other’s side,”

Even though it might seem radical, we’ve all been in all kinds of relationships, and it does make sense to separate your love life from your living arrangement. Check out some of Jay and Krystle’s videos to see why it might just be an option to consider.

When people ask them why did they decide to get married, Jay said that they got married because there are a lot of legal benefits, and they also wanted the world to recognize them as a couple.

“If anything’s ever going to happen to me. Or to her. We want it to be known that she’s the go-to for me. And I’m the go-to for her. She’s my person and I want people to understand we are family, isn’t that what marriage does?” – she further noted.
