Female singer Ariana Grande has been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year and with that, she joined the long list of singers who have held this title like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
Ross Scarano, one of the Billboard’s VP’s of Content says Ariana is a unique artist, never bending to any particular trends in the music industry.
“Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
Ariana Grande, 25 years old, will be presented with this award at the 13th annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala on 6 December.
Outside of her music career, Ariana has been successfully fighting many personal battles of her own.
Just a few months ago, her ex-boyfriend who was known for struggling with his addictions, was found dead from an accidental overdose at his home in San Fernando Valley.
In a tribute to him, she posted a video of them together on her Instagram page with a heartbreaking caption:
Before Mac’s tragic death, Ariana was also battling with PTSD, when 22 people died and 500 were injured in a terrorist attack at one of her concerts in Manchester in 2017.
2 weeks after the attack, Ariana managed to gather many of her fellow colleagues for the ‘One Love Manchester’ benefit concert in honor of all the victims.
