Many Britons were shocked and couldn’t believe the numbers when showed how much the healthcare in the United States costs in a video released recently. Many of them didn’t hesitate to thank the United Kingdom’s publicly-funded and administered National Health Service for sparing the country’s people from such extreme prices.
One young woman told the interviewer from Joe Politics that if you’re poor in the U.S., you won’t last for a long time, after she heard that an asthma inhaler in the U.S. costs between $250 and $300.
Two men were shocked when they heard that Americans are charged $2,500 for an ambulance ride.
Historian David Walsh tweeted that he’s said it before, and he will say it again that the cost of American healthcare is literally unimaginable to most British people, and the video proved that to be true.
The 4-minute long video comes in the wake of reports that the ruling Conservative Party is planning on opening the U.K.’s health system to a more U.S. approach after leaving the European Union.
Watch the video for yourself below, and feel free to express your thoughts on the matter in the comments.
Ambulance call out? $2,500. Childbirth? $30,000.
