American luxury fashion giant Calvin Klein has just released its 2020 limited edition Pride collection and campaign, and they announced that they will feature 9 LGBTQ+ campaigners from around the world for their #PROUDINMYCALVINS campaign. The brand is known for its underwear photoshoots and jumpstarting the careers of relatively known models.
The LGBTQ+ campaigners have been photographed by Ryan McGinley, and they include famous Brazilian drag queen and pop-star Pabllo Vittar, trans YouTuber Chella Man, gay and non-binary actor Tommy Dorfman, Black plus-size trans model Jari Jones, Persian lesbian pop-singer Gia Woods, and others.
Pabblo Vittar is probably the most popular drag queen in the world, and has over 1 billion views on YouTube. She spoke to PAPER magazine about her first global fashion campaign and said that it feels different because last year she did many concerts and met many people who love her in person, but with the lockdown this year, everyone celebrates Pride at home. However, she noted that the community will always be here “like family, like a rainbow, you know, everybody has a color”.
The complete Pride collection, featuring swimwear, boxers, a belt bag, and more, has already been put up on the Calvin Klein website.
Calvin Klein has also sponsored PFLAG National, an organization for family and friends of LGBTQ+ people. Additionally, they’ve invested money into supporting OutRight Action International’s COVID-19 LGBTQ Global Emergency Fund and Australia’s Equality Project.
