The circus couldn’t be imagined without elephants, horses, monkeys, lions, bears, etc, for a very, very long time.
Circus Roncalli, however, has decided to change that tradition, and they did the unimaginable (for some people): they swapped real animals with holograms! And, to make things even better, the show remains just as spectacular!
Circus Roncalli has been creating animal shows since 1976, but they recently decided to change the tradition in an attempt to fight against animal cruelty.
Yes, their shows still feature tails and tusks, and the expected acrobats going through fiery circles, but with one very important difference: none of the animals are real!
Roncalli filled 32 meters wide and 5 meters deep arena with 360° visibility for the entire audience, and they created 3D holographic images from projectors.
Roncalli and Bluebox partnered with Optoma to install 11 laser projectors in order to get the mesmerizing holographic experience.
Birger Wunderlich at Bluebox said that they’ve been using Optoma projectors for 6 years and have consistently had a very positive experience in performance, reliability, and price.
The bold move comes after activists have accused many circuses of maltreatment of the animals and increasing worldwide concerns about show animals living their lives under captivity.

Needless to say, people on the internet absolutely loved the idea, and so do we! What do you think about it? Tell us in the comments.
