Interracial dating shouldn’t be anything to write home about in 2019 in concept, but, sadly, there are still people who can’t stand the thought of interracial love.
Even though there are a number of absurd, fear-based reasons people perpetuate this specific brand of racism, the most obvious and common one is genetic. White (usually) people take suggestions and lead from their parents, and they don’t break the pattern.
A concerned dad that goes by the Reddit username u/mixedwoes took it to the AITA subreddit to ask whether he is in the wrong for telling his daughter that she cannot introduce her African American boyfriend to her grandparents.
He started off by saying that he has absolutely nothing wrong against interracial relationships, and he continued with his post. Check out the post for yourself below:
Even though the dad stands by the fact that he supports the relationship and he got the courage to admit the truth about the nature of his parents, he was called out by people on Reddit.
One comment, however, stood out from the crowd, and it managed to earn over 37k points on Reddit.
Check out what other people had to say about the post. It’s safe to say, though, that most people agreed that the dad was in the wrong here, and he shouldn’t have told his daughter that she cannot introduce her boyfriend to her grandparents.
