Derek Chauvin’s wife has filed for divorce.
Kellie Chauvin’s lawyer said in a statement that the woman expressed her sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Floyd by the hands of former police officer Derek Chauvin.
The statement reads that Kellie Chauvin is absolutely devastated by the loss of Mr Floyd, and her utmost sympathy lies with his family, with his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving this tragedy.
“While Ms. Chauvin has no children from her current marriage, she respectfully requests that her children, her elder parents, and her extended family be given safety and privacy during this difficult time.” – it further reads.
The news of the divorce came among mass protests across the country against police ruthlessness that has taken the lives of thousands of people, without any effective changes.
TMZ reports that Kellie only wants an even split on their shared assets with her husband, and she plans to restore her maiden name.
Even though many people applauded the news, some think that the wife of Derek Chauvin should not be praised for her action, because she stood by him for so many years, despite numerous excessive force complaints.
Anyone applauding Kellie Chauvin needs to sit down. Kellie has stood by dereks side through all of the complaints. She’s “divorcing” him to shield their assets from the family of #GeorgeFloyd’s upcomming civil suit. #JusticeForGeorgeFlyod https://t.co/s8qSSteLmh

The killer cops wife, Kellie Chauvin, met him when he was taking one of his victims to the hospital. After he was done torturing yet another person, he asked her out. Now she holds the title of Mrs. Minnesota. Also know as his Eva Braun. pic.twitter.com/MI7q7y5e3I

the fact that 40% of cops are domestic abusers and the fact that Derek Chauvin’s wife chose the night he was in protective custody to file for divorce are certainly two facts from which one could draw an interesting theory
