We usually take the letters written to ‘agony aunts’ in the newspaper with a pinch of salt, because some just seem too weird to be real, and some will make you ask ‘Don’t you have any friends to ask instead?’
Yet, some people think that asking a total stranger for advice about private matters on a public forum is the best way to do it. This mother, for example, wrote to ‘Dear Prudence’ agony aunt on Slate that appears as a podcast, live chat and publication on their website.
Like many older mothers, she dreams of having a grandchildren in her family. She tried all the options to get her son and daughter-in-law to agree, but with no success, so she turned to Prudie: “How do we convince them that we only want them to be happy?”
Let’s say that Prudie was not impressed. Scroll down to see her response, and tell us what you think!
