
Have you ever heard about the term “negging”? It became popular during the rise of the “pick up artist” culture, and it’s a compliment that’s kind of an insult. Supposedly, the other person will feel insecure if you neg them and they will want to connect with you – sort of like reverse psychology.
For all we know, dudes who use this need to stop trying it when they want a date, because it’s absolute nonsense!
Not only that’s embarrassing, but it makes them feel like complete douchebags, and today we have a perfect example of it.
Lauren McKeown is a woman that shared a few screenshots of a conversation she had with a guy on Hinge, and it’s a textbook example case of a failed “neg”.
The guy responded to the information on her profile that said how she worked at NASA. He first said that “it was cool”, but things quickly went downhill from there.
People immediately recognized the failed “neg”, but it seems like women scientists are often facing sexism both within and without their profession:
