We live in 2020, so we believe without saying that clothing has no gender, and everyone should be able to wear whatever they want without being judged.
To add to that, it’s perfectly normal for your fashion choice to evolve over time, and it’s a matter of personal taste. However, even if we believe that the world has been “modernized”, the clothing choice for women is often prescriptive based on age.
Women often feel like the fashion world is telling them that their body has ‘an expiration date’, which makes telling a woman that she’s “too old” to wear something even more sexist and degrading.
Reddit user u/hautesociete recently shared a story on the mega-popular ‘Am I The A-hole’ subreddit in which he asked if he’s the a-hole for changing the style of clothing he designs for his wife to suit her age, fitness, and image. Just by reading the headline, I would immediately say that Yes, he’s a massive a-hole. However, after reading the story, I can guarantee that this is one massive, misogynistic, douchebag of a husband (Sorry, not sorry)!
Check out the story for yourself, and feel free to express your opinion about this guy.
Expectedly, most people could agree that he’s in the wrong for not consulting his wife about the changes he’s made to her wardrobe, and the fact that she’s only 27 years old makes it even worse. I mean, clothing is the most personal thing one can do, and absolutely NO ONE should tell you what to wear.
