Many women fell like they are a parent to their own spouses and often lack their much needed support. Doing a ton of tasks daily takes a lot of energy and causes additional and unneeded stress.
Being married can be as demanding as motherhood and according to some new research an average mom rates her stress levels an 8.5 out of 10. Also, 64% of the women that took part in the study reported that their husbands cause more stress that their kids.
Here is a short summary of the study:
- 3 of 4 moms with husbands reported that they do most of the parenting as well as household chores.
- 1 in every 5 moms claim that the lack of help from their husbands is the main cause of stress.
- The lack of time to do everything that’s needed to be done at home also causes additional stress.
An interesting study from the University of Padova has revealed that the health of the husbands who lose their wife starts to deteriorate, while in the opposite case, women are actually becoming healthier and can much easily cope with depression and stress.
This is clear evidence that men rely more heavily on their wives. It`s common sense for partners to split their responsibilities, including homework duties.
If you think that you are doing all, or most of the work at home than try to talk with your partner and maybe you can make a to-do-list or a shared calendar.
In some cases, women do not trust their husbands to give them more responsibility at home, especially the ones that involve their kids.
It can be helpful to resist the urge for perfection and to do everything yourself. Try and ask your partner to pitch in and make his contribution.
It`s also a huge mistake to focus solely on parenthood and live their relationship behind. You have to remember besides being a parent you`re also an individual.
Make sure you find some quality time to spend on yourself and on your partner as well. A strong family needs both parents to be strong.
