You’re never really sure who will see the picture you’ve posted on the social media, right?
That was exactly the case for officer Brittany Beard Hilton from Texas who posted a photo of herself and her husband, officer Steven, on her Facebook profile and it got over 100,000 shares for the most unexpected reason!
At first glance, nothing seems out of the order. Just two photogenic cops taking a selfie, right? So, what’s the big deal?
As always, context is everything.
Police officers have the overwhelming support of the public they serve in the current climate.
However, that support seems to be fledging recently in the wake of current events that left many people skeptical or even opposing the law enforcement.
The criticism of the law-abiding officers can only make doing their job tougher.
Mob mentality, aside from being a demoralizing environment in which to work, can make the jobs of the police officers downright dangerous. So, in response to that, officer Brittany Hilton gave the world a quick glimpse at what is really going on:
She decided to post a photo on her Facebook page in response to the negative criticism law enforcement has been receiving, and to remind everyone that police officers risk their lives every day and make sacrifices for their families.
“Before you say hateful things and put all officers in a category….remember we are all individuals attached to a delicate thin blue line. We are attacked daily and getting killed just for putting on a badge. You voice your opinion, and rally against law enforcement over tickets!! We are risking our lives.”
People loved the photo because it reminds everyone that the law enforcement community is full of brave, heroic, and compassionate people!
We’re happy to know that the selfie-taking couple is still doing great, and we wish them the best of luck!
