Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly-elected freshman representative, has become of the most polarizing political figures in the American life over the past few months.
The 29-year-old democratic socialist has become somewhat of a star because of her progressive and unapologetic views, and for promoting the aggressive policies such as 70% tax on the wealthy and the Green New Deal.
However, many conservatives have blamed her for trying to turn the U.S. into countries like Venezuela and Cuba – which is laughable.
Ocasio-Cortez, however, made a speech to the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Wednesday that should be heard by everyone! She shared how the current system rewards and even encourages politicians for doing the bidding of corporate masters instead of the American people, and she told a story that exposes the influence of dark money and corporate interests.
Check out the video of her speech below:
Democrats introduced House bill HR1 on February 8, and the new series of laws would end Citizens United – the decision that allowed unrestricted amounts of money to flow into the political system. It would essentially make dark money public, and it bolsters voting rights and creates more ethics laws for the president and Congress.
