Irish Traveler Shares How She Was Forced to Marry at 16: “It Was The Worst Day Of My Life”

Bridget Walls is an Irish traveler who recently spoke out about her life within the community, including how she was forced into arranged marriage when she was 16. Actually, she got married on her 16th birthday, and she described it as ‘the worst day of her life’.

The 26-year-old takes it to TikTok to share insights of how a traveler’s life looks like, and she often answers questions about her unusual arranged marriage.

The mom-of-three revealed in the video that she didn’t even know that her family had arranged a wedding for her until she woke up the morning on her 16th birthday and found out.

The marriage didn’t work out, and Bridget shared that she felt victim of the hands of her husband just two weeks after they got married.
She got divorced at 23, but she is well aware that she shouldn’t have been forced into it as a child.

When asked why families arrange families, she shared that it’s because they don’t want their children marrying outside of the traveling community.
