Julia Roberts, the Academy Award-winning 51-year-old actress recently posted a graceful selfie on Instagram outside a gender-neutral restroom a few days ago to advocate for gender-neutral spaces and LGBTQ+ rights.
She wrote in the caption that “she wishes they all said it”, and told her followers to check out her story for more info.
The actress posted a video to her Instagram story in which she gave a shout out to the LGBTQ education advocacy organization called GLSEN.
Roberts said that she feels really strongly about it, and, according to Pink News, the organization makes schools safe for every student, no matter their orientation or gender identity.
She has been an LGBTQ rights supporter for a long time, and she was awarded the GLSEN Respect Award in 2014 for her contributions to helping LGBTQ youth.
She asked people for her 49th birthday who wanted to give her a gift to instead donate $49 to GLSEN.
Roberts also said back in 2017 that she, as a parent, wants to see all students feel safe and protected at school. She added that before Trump got elected, he was “totally for LGBTQ students because they’re people too”, but after he got elected, he was like “Just kidding, I lied”.
