Thousands of people across the U.S. are protesting against racial discrimination, and countless emotional and heartwarming photos have emerged of the protests.
Numerous A-list celebrities have also been photographed marching in unity with the protestors, but one particular image that was taken this weekend has touched the hearts of many. It’s the photo of a young man proposing to his girlfriend during one of the protests.
The 26-year-old Xavier Young proposed to his 23-year-old fiancée Marjorie Alston during a protest in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Alston didn’t plan on going to the protest at first, especially because she’s pregnant, but she was like “This is the time”, so she and her boyfriend went out to protest on the streets.
The 26-year-old father-to-be was able to cancel his plans, so he immediately started packing a book bag and took the essentials, along with the engagement ring that he managed to “snuck” in.
Xavier told E! Magazine that as they made it to the protests, he “completely forgot” that he had the ring in his bag, but he had known that he was going to propose for a while.
He thought that the protest was the perfect place to propose, especially because it was his fiance that wanted to go.
“What better place and what better time? We’re protesting something unjust and ugly, and I felt like I could bring some beauty and some light to the situation.” – he added.
Coincidentally, photographer Charles Crouch was right there, in the right place and at the right time, so he took out his camera and documented the loving couple’s proposal forever. He took the photo for his company, 4C Visuals Group.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
