Even though photoshopping certain things or people our (or in) in photos by certain publications is nothing new, this one is a big one.
As it turns out, The Australian found itself in hot waters after some people noticed that something was a bit off in an image of cricketers David Warner and Ellyse Perry. The issue was in the height of the two players, who, if you didn’t work that out already, is a man and a woman, respectively.
Perry is way taller than Warner in real life, and Warner seems absolutely chill about it (I mean, why would he feel otherwise?). However, the editor of the publication somehow figured out that a woman cannot possibly be taller than a man, so they decided that they should photoshop away the height difference.
In the end, the final version of the photo shows Warner even taller than Perry, and it’s truly bizarre.
The newspaper had to use two separate photos of the players, and it remains unclear whether someone made the choice deliberately, or it was just a subconscious bias. Either way, it’s truly, truly bizarre.
Well, it’s safe to say that people of the internet were NOT impressed by it:
