Christopher Mirasolo is a 27-year-old man from Brown City, Michigan, who took advantage and forced himself on a 12-year-old girl in 2008 and she subsequently became pregnant. However, despite being convicted of that crime and another assault on a child, he has been awarded joint custody of her child.
Mirasolo was given parenting time and joint legal custody by a judge of the 8-year-old boy after a paternity test found that he was the father.
He served four years in prison after he was convicted of another assault on another child.
The girl is now 21-years-old, and her attorney, Rebecca Kiessling, is seeking protection under the federal Child Custody Act for survivors to halt his access to the child.
Judge Gregory S Ross granted the custody, and Mirasolo was even given the address of the girl (now woman) and he had his name added to the birth certificate of the child, without the consent of the mother.
Kiessling said that this is insane, and nothing has been right about this since it was originally investigated.
The man was never properly charged, and he should still be sitting behind bars.
Ms. Kiessling added that Mirasolo forcibly took advantage of her client and even threatened to take her life in September 2008, and even though he was found guilty of third-degree criminal conduct, he was only sentenced to one year in jail, and only served six and a half months.
He committed yet another similar crime in 2010, and the other girl was aged between 13 and 15 at the time, for which he served four years in prison.
The girl and her sister went out and thought that they will meet a friend of them and another older friend, when Mirasolo showed up with his vehicle. They thought they were going to McDonald’s or somewhere, but instead, he threw away their cellphones, drove them to Detroit, stole gas from a station, took them back to Sanilac County, and kept them captive there for two days in a vacant house. He finally released the older sister in a park, and threatened to take away their lives if they told anyone what happened.
The girl fell pregnant a month later, and he was arrested.
She, however, decided to keep the child, and left school to live with relatives and worked to support herself and her child. The fact that he was given custody is truly disturbing.
