The Hollywood Reporter reports that a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie will hit the big screens in the near future, and the new project will be a “female-fronted” movie. The starring role will be played by non-other than Margot Robbie, teamed up with screenwriter Christina Hodson. The two collaborated on the 2019 hit Birds of Prey, and the female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean movie will be separate from the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean late 2019 reboot.
It has been reported that the Margot Robbie version will be a “wholly original story with new characters”, and not a spin-off to the original movie.
The upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean reboot was in early development with Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott, but it remains unknown if Johnny Depp will appear in it.

I haven’t cared for Pirates of the Caribbean in ages. But Margot Robbie as the lead? Oh girl. I’m already getting hot and bothered at the thought of her as a badass pirate flirting with the ladies! Swoon alert! https://t.co/aHErHDLP6u pic.twitter.com/BZFp5svOEr
