This week’s debate has reminded us all that there are more than 20 Democrats running for president in 2020. To add to that, Michael Moore would like to see one more: Michelle Obama.
Even though the former first lady has repeatedly dismissed the speculations that she might run for political office, Moore told MSNBC’s Brian Williams that he sees her as the “one person that would crush Trump” in 2020.
The filmmaker said that everyone knows that she is a beloved American, and she would go in there, and she would win against him easily. He said that she would win against him in the debates, and he wouldn’t be able to talk bad about her, nickname her, because she’s beloved.
He continued by saying that she’s playing 15,000-seat arenas in the Midwest, she takes the stage and she’s so powerful and so good.
The Fahrenheit 9/11 director did say that it’s very unlikely that the former first lady would actually throw her hat into the ring, but he thinks that if she were asked, he believes she would serve.
He predicted that she would win and actually crush Trump, explaining that, given that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 but still lost the election, it’s not enough to “just beat him”.
Michelle Obama isn’t Moore’s only hope, though. Even though he is critical of certain Democratic strategies, he said earlier that four candidates can defeat Trump: Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Sen. Kamala Harris.
Even though Obama has ruled out a run, Moore may be on to something, as even Fox & Friends were praising her as they criticized Democratic candidates for keeping their distance from the last administration.
