According to the annual Gallup poll, former first lady Michelle Obama is America’s most admired woman. More than 1,000 Americans were asked about the men and women they admire the most, and Michelle Obama claimed the top spot for women.
The former first lady won the top spot for the second year in a row with 10 percent of the vote, while first lady Melania Trump was named as the most admired woman by only 5 percent of respondents. The top five most admired women list includes the likes of climate activist Greta Thunberg, TV host Oprah Winfrey, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama tied for the first place in the men’s list, with 18 percent of the vote each. President Obama has been the most admired man in the U.S. for 12 years, according to Gallup’s survey.
The third place was also a tie between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former President Jimmy Carter.
Expectedly, much of the voting was divided down party lines, and Trump received only 2 percent of the votes of Democrats, while Obama only got 3 percent of the vote from Republicans and 12 percent from independents.
