If you have ever run any race, be it a 5K or a full marathon, you know just how grueling it is.
However, even if you haven’t done it while pushing your kid in a stroller, we believe you can imagine just how hard that might be!
Now imagine pushing not one, but three kids in a stroller, and break a marathon record while doing it!
Cynthia Lauren Arnold is a mom who pushed the stroller in which there was her 6-year-old daughter Marguerite, her 3-year-old son Simon, and her 21-month-old daughter Asha. Combined they added about 185 pounds onto her run, including the stroller, and she still broke the record!
Not only did she break the record for a marathon while pushing a three-person stroller, she even made a popsicle stop for her babies at the 14th mile.
Most of Arnold’s training was done alone, and she told Runner’s World that she did occasionally take her kids with her to make sure that she knew what it would take to add the weight to her run.
However, she had limited those runs to just ten miles.
To add to that, she did this all at a 3,200 feet elevation.
She said that this year’s race was probably the last competitive race she will do with the kids, but she plans to run by herself again in 2020.
She believes it’s all about finding the balance between motherhood and the passion she had for years before she had kids, and running with the stroller is a part of her identity now.
