2022 will mark year 3 of the Covid-19 pandemic, and I’m pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say that we can’t wait for it to be over!
However, we’re not done – not yet! And as much as we’re all tired of the lockdowns, anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, and so on, we’re not there yet – and with new mutations of the virus heading towards our way, we should get our vaccines, limit group gatherings, and mask in crowded public places.
Although it’s hard to believe that there are still anti-maskers at this point, they still exist – and they don’t even want to see other people wearing masks.
One mom on Twitter called out Highlights, the popular children’s magazine for including illustrations of children wearing masks.
Namely, Bethany Mandel shared a photo of a page of the magazine that showed children wearing masks in the audience, and she shared an email she sent to the editor of the magazine, asking them to remove the masks of the children.

Thankfully, Highlights responded to her tweet – and we believe it’s the best reaction ever (okay, maybe not ever, but we’re really excited when someone shuts down an anti-masker).
We want our readers to see themselves and their experiences in our magazines, so we’ve included masks and acknowledgements of the pandemic to help support kids. As one child wrote to us, “Kids need to know that they are not alone.” Like you, we hope that this will be over soon.

Expectedly, people loved Highlights’ reaction, and their tweet racked up almost 10k likes.
