Annie Wang is a world-renowned photographer from Taipei City, Taiwan. When she got pregnant, she decided that she won’t be doing the usual mother-child photographies, but wanted something different. She explained that her concept in her art has often been based on self-representation and she wanted to use that now.
She explains that she doesn’t necessarily see motherhood as a form of sacrifice but keeping a parallel between being a being and being a creator – an artist. Annie explains:
“The Mother not only creates a life but also creates continually a continuous and fluid matrix of experience between Mother and Child.”
Annie created a collection of photographies called ‘The Mother As A Creator‘ where she tried to represent the blend of an artist and a mother representing her and her son throughout the years. To be specific, they take a family photograph each year and then the next year they take another image posing in front of the previous photo.
The results are pretty amazing and have touched many people around the world. The son is now 18-years-old and is proud to have been part of this artistic but also family project. You can check the photographies below and maybe get an inspiration for a photography project of your own.
