Muslim Girl Tied To A Tree And Beaten Up For Hours For Trying To Run Away With Her Boyfriend In India

A Muslim teenage girl was found tied to a tree, after she was beaten up by her family members in north-eastern India. Reportedly, she had been punished for running away with her Hindu boyfriend.

The 18-year-old girl, who has not been named, had gone to pursue a relationship with a young man of a different religion, against her family’s wishes, and she has been tied up and beaten up for up to five hours after they tracked her down.

A witness recorded the incident on a mobile phone, and it took place in a small village in the Nawada district, north-eastern India.

The local media report that the 18-year-old had left the village with her Hindu boyfriend, named Rupesh Kumar, despite her family strictly forbidding the relationship due to the different religion of her boyfriend.

According to reports, the couple had left to get married, but her family soon tracked them down, and the village council ordered the girl be punished for bringing ‘dishonor’ on their community.

The shocking photos show the girl lying on the ground while she is tied to a tree, and there’s a crowd gathered around her. A man can be seen lifting her head by her hair, while another one holds a whipping reed in his hand.

Another photo shows her tied so tight to the tree that she is unable to move. Reportedly, the girl has remained resistant and wanted to stay with her boyfriend.

The police arrived at the scene, but did not make any arrests.
