The Girl Scout Cookie season is underway, and the organization that focuses on building leadership and confidence in girls all over the country has taken their message a step further this year. The new Girl Scout Cookie is finally here, and it’s stamped with a number of feminist messages that are intended to inspire young girls (and everyone else, for that matter), to take risks, lead, and be strong!
The cookies are called Lemon-Ups and they are essentially crispy lemon cookies with icing on one side and stamped messages on the other. The messages include some motivational phrases like “I am a leader”, “I am a go-getter”, “I am gutsy”, “I am an innovator”, and “I am a risk-taker”.
There are eight messages available, so we hope we can get them all.
The new cookies will replace Savannah Smiles, and they seem very similar to Lemonades. According to the Girl Scouts website, the cookies are “savory slices of shortbread with lemon-flavored icing”, and they will be available for purchase in only certain areas.
Even though it’s totally understandable if you too go crazy for Girl Scout cookies, as they’re delicious, the organization aims to remind everyone what the Girl Scout Cookie Program is actually all about with the Lemon-Ups, and we’re all in for it!
Their blog reads that the Girl Scout Cookie is a lot more than just a delicious treat, and the Girl Scout Cookie Program enables girls to think like entrepreneurs as they learn essential skills, such as money management, public speaking, and decision-making, which sets them up for a lifetime of success. Oh, and the fun with friends is just a bonus!
