Hasbro has just released its latest edition of the popular board game Monopoly, but this time with a bit of an upgrade.
You see, Ms. Monopoly, the niece of Mr. Monopoly, wanted to celebrate female inventors and entrepreneurs, so her updated version allows women to earn more than men. The makers say that this is the first game to do so.
So, when a woman passes “Go”, she will pick up $240, while men will collect the usual $200.
Women also get a higher payout at the start of the game, and the company said that this is a fun new take on the game that creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men.
The company noted, however, that men can make more money too, if they play their cards right that is.
And this is not the only thing in which Ms. Monopoly differs from the original game. In Ms. Monopoly, players buy things that wouldn’t exist without the innovative women who invented them instead of buying properties and businesses.
So, instead of being able to buy Oxford Street or Piccadilly, you can now purchase things like WiFi, Stem Cell Isolation, or chocolate chip cookies.
The rules say that players can build business headquarters to collect even more rent, zoom ahead with ride-shares, and purchase utilities – such as solar heating – invented by women.
The advert for the game also says that this is the first game where women make more than men, and it includes unique tokens that represent Ms. Monopoly’s adventurous spirit.
Ms. Monopoly can be pre-ordered here , priced at $27.83.
