Kendall Jenner announced in a recent Instagram post that she’s launching a tequila brand. However, not everyone was happy about the news.
The model confirmed in the post that she’s been working on her new tequila brand named 818 for three and a half years. She added that she’s been tasting and developing the product with an unspecified team.

Although Jenner’s brand has already won several awards, including best reposado at the World Tequila Awards, some people have accused her of cultural appropriation.
There were comments on her post that the launching of a tequila brand is an example of cultural appropriation.
And not to mention profit off the brown hands that actually plant, grow, harvest ferment and distill the agave plants in Jalisco

Other people criticized her for not publicly expressing gratitude towards the people that worked on making the drink. Additionally, some noted that the workers in these companies after often paid poorly and even exploited.
Not a huge fan of Kendall but, nick jonas, Dwayne Johnson, Rita Ora, and Adam Levine have also made & continue to make tequila & no has seems to have a problem with that. P Diddy and Jay Z aren’t Russian & makes millions off of vodka. Y’all just like to pick & chose

As you know already, tequila is a staple of Mexican culture, and the drink is inextricably tied to Mexico and its culture. In fact, the name comes from the town in the state of Jalisco, which’s considered Tequila’s birthplace.
