Ellen DeGeneres just wrapped up a weeklong trip around East Africa.
She runs a wildlife foundation and she was promoting the organization’s work by snapping selfies with giraffes in Kenya. The famous talk show host also embarked on a mountain gorilla excursion in Rwanda with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
However, there is one photo that Ellen posted which isn’t sitting well with many of her fans on the continent she was visiting.
She tweeted this photo on Tuesday, and it shows her standing with more than a dozen small children. The Tweet read: “Thank you to all of the amazing people I met on my trip, who helped make it so special.”
Africans immediately accused Ellen of engaging in “poverty porn” and focusing on only one aspect of life in Africa.
Nigerian Actor who lives in London Kelechi Okafor posted a thread breaking down Ellen’s photo, jokingly saying that she was going to do the same thing with white people in England.
