Social media users have been disturbed over a photo that gained massive popularity in a very short time. The photo shows a group of seemingly able-bodied passengers completely disregarding the needs of an elderly passenger that had to stand, and if you’ve ever ridden on public transportation, you know that you should offer your seat if there’s an elderly, pregnant, or disabled person that needs it.
I mean, these are the most basic of manners, and it’s a common courtesy that crosses all cultures, all over the world. If you choose not to respect the opinions of elders, that’s fine, but if they need a seat, and all the seats are taken, you stand up and let them sit!
The photos have been taken on a train in Sydney, Australia, and these commuters were never taught basic manners. The photo was first shared on Facebook, and has surfaced the internet ever since.
The photo was first shared on a Facebook group called Aussie Aussie Aussie, and the caption read: “No respect…”
Many people were outraged by the photo, and they commented that the person that took the photo should have done something about it, rather than just taking a photo to get some likes and shame others.
And while there were some questions as to whether the seated commuters were being rude to the elderly woman or not, some people wrote that the photo probably doesn’t show the whole story, and that we shouldn’t judge without more information.
