It’s 2019, and saying things like “hi, guys”, or “Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen” might make some people feel excluded, unseen, or misgendered.
Yes, we know it’s sometimes tough to break the habit of a traditional greeting, but it’s worth trying to remember to use more gender-neutral phrases when addressing a crowd or a group of people you haven’t met yet.

Twitter user Ellory Smith decided to ask her followers what’s their favorite gender-neutral greeting, and she started off with something truly off the wall: “What’s up, rat bastards!”.

The suggestions started flying in immediately, and some of them were truly hilarious and extremely memorable.
