The internet has been divided recently over a photo that was taken on a Sydney train.
The photo sees an elderly woman standing hunched over while three other commuters sit down with their headphones on.
Many people on the internet were unimpressed by the photo, and they were mostly disappointed of the three younger people who failed to offer their seats to the elderly woman.
The image was uploaded on Saturday, and it was captioned with: “No respect”. It has since been shared more than 22k times, and more than 2,200 people commented on it.
Most people criticized the commuters for not giving up their seats to the elderly woman. Someone on Reddit even wrote that they are heartless souls, and they are called the “Millennial generation”.
There were many young people, however, who wrote that they would have given their seat for an elderly woman, and many wrote that they have actually done it already.
Some people, however, actually defended the commuters and wrote that maybe they actually offered her their seat, but she said “No” because she was maybe getting off soon. Another one also added that it might be too hard for her to sit down and stand back up again.
And, expectedly, there were people who took aim at the person who took the photo. One person wrote that this is a typical person today – take a photo and complain on the internet, but don’t actually have the courage to say something in real life.
What’s your opinion on this one? Is this really what the “Millennial generation” is like, or this is just an exclusion?
