Popular Comic Shows Why The Playing Field For Men And Women Is Not Equal

Having a career as a woman is hard as hell, and if you happen to need a simple illustration to show that to you, we’ve got just the comic for you.

If you have been trying to explain exactly how the playing field is not level for men and women, but without success, there’s a new cartoon that displays that perfectly.

The cartoon has since gone viral after it was tweeted by billionaire Anand Mahindra and Indian Businessman Harvard Grad, and you can check it out below:

Even though the image is very simple, it shows a very important point. The three women and three men are all positioned at the starting line of the track, but the men have a clear path ahead of them, while the women are blocked by the pile of housework (cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing). And, to add to that, they have to wear skirts and heels!

The original image was drawn by Carlin, a Peruvian political cartoonist who draws for La Republica.

The reactions to the comic, however, have been mixed.

Even though many women showed their appreciation that their emotional labor and household tasks are seen, many men were angry to Mahindra for sharing it, and said that men and women are “obviously equal”.
