An outsider’s perspective is sometimes the most valuable thing when discussing some issue because it allows you to escape from the biases and vested interests and give you a more accurate and objective picture of reality.
Yeah, we understand that the reality can sometimes be very difficult to accept, especially if it involves criticism. The thing is that the objective outsider sees only the result of things like tradition, habits, or things like religion or patriotism, and they tell things as they are.
Americans, for example, have difficulties to understand the debate over fire arms because they have been raised to believe they live in the undisputed greatest nation on Earth.
However, many foreigners know that the statistics don’t bear this out, and a recent perspective uploaded on Reddit as a response to a post about fire arm control is a truly honest summation of an outsider’s view of American society.
Even though many people found this comment to be very harsh, we must understand that we all have different needs and expectations aobut life, and our governments choose different ways to serve the best interests of their citizens. What’s your opinion, is the U.S. government serving the best interests of its citizens?
