Amber Lynn Gilles is a woman from San Diego, California, that tried to shame a Starbucks barista that refused to serve her because she didn’t wear a face mask on the 22nd of June. She posted on Facebook that barista Lenin Gutierrez refused to serve her, and she wrote that next time she will wait for the cops and bring a medical exemption.
Her post, though, backfired massively for her, and rather than agreeing with her, thousands of people actually defended Gutierrez, and they expressed their support by tipping him through a GoFundMe page that was set up specifically to help the barista.
Matt Cowan, one of the people that defended Gutierrez in the comments, set up a GoFundMe page named: “Tips for Lenin Standing Up To A San Diego Karen”. The page has since gone viral, and the fundraiser has raised more than $28,000 (at the time of writing).
Lenin has since thanked everyone for their donations, and he explained what happened in a video that he posted on his Facebook profile.
