Even though many will deny it, it’s a fact that most men out there prefer fragile, soft, and feminine women. It’s been the case from the pre-historic times, and the majority of men would pick a sensitive and a feminine woman over a strong, alpha woman. It is probably already ingrained in men’s DNA, and it has a lot to do with procreation.
However, even if the genetic codes have programmed them that way, the question still remains: Do men like feminine and “soft” women more than strong, independent women because they are “genetically predisposed to be the stronger ones in a relationship”, or is it actually because they are afraid by women who are more powerful and intelligent than them?
Well, according to many scientific studies, the number of men who would actually date a powerful, smart, and independent woman is actually a lot smaller than you may think. In fact, a recent study conducted by the researchers of the University of Texas and California Lutheran University showed that even though 90% of the participants said that they would be comfortable dating someone smarter than them, they were no longer interested in the women when the scores were brought into the picture.
So, it turns out that men may be attracted to women who are more intelligent and more competent than them, but only if the woman is at a physical distance from them. However, when it comes to dating in person, most men prefer to be around women who cannot outsmart them.
And yet another study which examined a similar issue has revealed the same data. To add to that, the study provided a possible explanation of why it happens.
According to the researchers, men showed a bigger interest in women who were more intelligent than themselves only when evaluating psychologically and physically distant targets. However, the same men were less interested in women who outsmarted them and were near to them.
So, all in all, it seems that men are actually afraid and threatened by intelligent and self-dependent women. A witty woman seems dangerous for the fragile male ego, and as a result, they do their best to preserve it by distancing themselves from women who can actually outperform them.
