Kimberly Bermudez is a teacher in Chicago that had a life-changing experience just a few days ago when she was flying home in Florida to see her parents.
As it turns out, it all started out as a normal flight, and she was having a polite chit-chat with the person that was sitting next to her. She told the stranger that she was working as a teacher, that her job is low-paid, and that she sees some of the struggles that her students are facing. She explained in her Facebook post that she wrote that she told the stranger that the greatest challenge she was facing was working at a low-income school and how heartbreaking it is.
She explained to the stranger that many of her students are immigrants, and that their parents struggle to make ends meet. The man next to her asked for information because the company he works for often donates items to schools like hers, and he suggested that maybe they could work something out. It was all good up until that point, but things took an unexpecting turn. Check out her post in full to see what happened.
Her story went absolutely viral, and it accumulated more than 83k likes and 26k shares. Her school, Fuentes Elementary, has received more than $4,000 donations since then, and some people have even shown interest in helping the students in the school get a new playground.
