A nurse in Zambia that is on her last leg revealed that she switched more than 5,000 babies at birth while she worked in the maternity ward for 12 years.
Her shocking confession made many people question whether it is actually true or not. However, Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa told the Zambian Observer that she wants to confess her sins before God and before all the affected people, especially those who had been giving birth at UTH (Zambian hospital) during her service.
She said that if you were born in UTH from 1983 to 1995, chances are that your parents may not be your biological ones. The woman said that she developed a habit of swapping newly born babies just for fun.
However, Snopes.com reported that for her claim to be true, she would have had to swap at least one baby every single day for 13 straight years, and many people are skeptical that she could have done that without any of the parents or the hospital staff noticing.
And, to add to that, the General Nursing Council of Zambia issued an investigation and they found that “no midwife by that name ever existed”. The GNC, however, still noted that they will continue investigating the matter.
