The ‘worst ever’ child abuse scandal came out in the town of Telford, Shropshire in Britain, involving around 1000 young girls being brutally raped by a gang for over 40 years. They were drugged, beaten and raped by the gang which have been active since the 1980s.
The Sunday Mirror reports that the authorities have been mishandling the allegations while similar abuses have continued in the area, with 15.1 child-sex crimes per 10,000 residents reported in 2015.
With the population of 155,000 in the town of Telford, there are potential 255 victims, only in 2015. The allegations have been called extremely serious and shocking by the Conservative MP of Telford, Lucy Allen. She said that there must be an independent inquiry into sex-exploitation of children so that the people of Telford will have confidence in the authorities.
The allegations of abuse have been linked to four teenage girls and a mother who died in a fire, when the 26-year-old taxi-driver Azhar Ali Mehmood set fire to their house. The 16-year-old Lucy gave birth to his child when she was only 14.
He was convicted and put in prison for the murder of Lucy, her mother and her 17-year-old sister Sarah, but he was never arrested or involved in any sex-abuse crimes with the teenage girl.
Lucy’s death has been used a warning sign for the other girls who might speak out, according to a victim that was drugged and raped by nine men.
The anonymous schoolgirl was scared that her family would die just like Lucy’s, and she thought that the only way out was to kill herself.
In another unexplained car accident in Telford in 2002, a schoolgirl was killed.
The car accident reported as a ‘prank’ was fatal for the young Becky Watson, but it was later revealed that she was a victim of abuse by the grooming gang for two years prior to the car crash. She was forced to ‘sleep around’, according to the entries in her diary.
Nothing was done by the police even after Becky’s mother reported it many times, and even gave them a list of suspects.
She felt like there was nowhere to turn because the police treated the young girls like criminals. If they had taken measures sooner, many girls would have been saved from this hell.
The same gang abused Becky’s friend, Vicky Round, who was first forced to use cocaine at the age of 12 and later heroine at the age of 14. At the age of 20, she sadly passed away after a drug overdose.
Pakistani community men abused and raped more than 1,400 underage girls in Rotherham over a period of 16 years.
These men inflicted despicable acts of abuse, and according to a specialist child abuse attorney, Dino Nocivelli, the children survivors need to know why did the abuse took place for such a long time and why many of the abusers have never been accused of anything.
After a police inquiry in Telford, seven men were jailed.
Two brothers, Ahbel Ali and Mubarek Ali were put into prison for allegations of human trafficking and prostitution, after selling teenage girls to an Indian restaurant in Telford and trying to prostitute them.
The authorities have been warned of the child abuse a decade before the operations took place, according to a paper.
Some of the victims say that the police have betrayed the children that live in the town, saying that it has been going for over 20 years, and it doesn’t seem to stop.
Street pastors had witnessed intoxicated teenagers being prepared by gangs of men at night, and drugs being sold to under-age children at parties, but the police had been silent about all of the reports.
This case remains a top priority for the CSE, according to a spokesman for Telford and Wrekin Council, because it has been going for two decades and it must stop!
