The Alabama Human Life Protection Act was signed by Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday, and it outlaws all pregnancy endings in the state, unless the woman’s life is seriously at risk.
The bill will take effect after six months, and doctors may face up to 99 years in prison for performing it. And, as you probably know already, the bill doesn’t include exceptions.
Expectedly, thousands of women have since taken it up to Twitter to reveal their own personal experiences with terminating pregnancies using the #YouKnowMe hashtag, and BuzzFeed also asked their community to share their own.
