The best way to test a relationship between two people are newborn babies. Parenting is a really, really tough job, and it’s most definitely not a one-person job (which is why I bow to the ground for single parents). However, somehow childcare inevitably becomes the mother’s job – at least for the biggest part.
Dads often manage to slowly ease out of taking care of the baby, using their job or some other excuse. So, oftentimes, the child becomes the mother’s full responsibility, and she’s left doing all the ‘dirty work’.
Well, the post we’ll share with you today was written by a sleep-deprived mom, and it’s a 4am poem about her husband who sleeps instead of helping with the baby. The poem was written by Caroline Olling Andersen a few years ago (she’s the person behind The Mommy Poet) a few years ago, but it’s still relevant today. Without further ado, check out the witty poem for yourself below.
The poem was an instant hit on Facebook, and it racked up thousands of likes, shares, and comments.
She later clarified to Bored Panda that she made a deal with her husband during her pregnancy that she’d take the night shift because she has received a very long maternity leave (yes, she’s from Denmark), but tiredness and sleep deprivation can cause a lot of passive-aggressive feelings, which is why she wrote the poem at 4 am on a particularly tiring night.
