Transgenderism has been called a bid to “annihilate nature” by an official document recently released by The Vatican.
The text is called “Male And Female He Created Them”, and it also says that people can’t choose or change their genders and insists on the “complementarity” of men and women to make babies.
The publication of these documents comes during Pride Month, and was quickly denounced by LGBTQ Catholics.
According to the advocacy group New Ways Ministry, the document will only further confuse individuals questioning their gender identity or sexual orientation, and it even poses a risk of self-harm.
Apparently, the new “guidance” is intended to help Catholic teachers, parents, and students, and clergy address what the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education called an “educational crisis”.
They called for a “path of dialogue” and listening on the issue of “gender theory” in education.
However, it has been noted that the text appeared to have relied entirely on previous papal pronouncements, Vatican documents, and theologians.
Father James Martin, a priest who wrote a book on improving Catholic Church outreach to the LGBT community says that the real-life experiences of LGBT people seem entirely absent from the document.
Pope Francis has repeatedly argued the position that people cannot choose their genders, and, according to Associated Press, the document only represents the first attempt to put the Vatican’s position, which was first articulated fully by Pope Benedict XVI in a 2012 speech.
The document called for an alliance among families, schools, and society to offer a “positive and prudent” education in Catholic schools and children to learn the “full original truth of femininity and masculinity”.
Gender fluidity was called a “symptom of the confusing concept of freedom” and “momentary desires” that characterize the post-modern culture.
Terms such as “transgender” have been rejected, and said that the purpose of the biological “complementarity” of the male and female intimate parts was to ensure procreation.
Head of New Ways Ministry, Francis DeBernardo said that such concepts are outdated and misinformed, because people do not choose their gender, as the Vatican claims, but they discovered it through their lived experiences.
